ABOUT ME

Julie Starsage

From an early age, I've been deeply connected to the natural world. Especially plants and their healing intelligence. My curiosity led me to study herbal medicine in my youth, which eventually led me to formally study Chinese Herbology in 1999. Those studies introduced me to the profound principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and I was instantly captivated.

In 2002, I began training at the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC, where I studied the foundations of TCM, meridian theory, medical history, qigong, taiji, and the Mandarin language.  After the birth of my second child, I continued my studies at Oshio College of Acupuncture in Victoria, earning my Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and becoming a Registered Acupuncturist in 2007.

My work has always been guided by the belief that health and healing mirrors the rhythms of nature. I'm endlessly fascinated by how modern science continues to affirm ancient wisdom. Especially the seasonal and cyclical laws that govern both nature and the human body.

While raising my children during my studies, I developed a special interest in pregnancy, postnatal recovery, and reproductive health.

In my final year of school, I discovered facial acupuncture and was immediately drawn to its ability to connect inner vitality with outer radiance.  As well how effective it was to treat deep-rooted emotional holding. I've since pursued every course I could with advanced training in New York and Seattle to deepen my expertise in cosmetic and facial rejuvenation acupuncture. As well the many kind practitioners who shared their knowledge with me in Vancouver's Chinatown.

Over the years, I've been honoured with three professional awards and have been featured in magazines and podcasts for my work in seasonal wellness... a lifelong passion that continues to inspire both my practice and my life.

My goal is to empower the patient in their own health through education and by unlocking their healing potential. The medicine still inspires me to always be learning and continuing my studies.

Outside of my practice, I love painting, traveling, exploring hidden trails with my dog, and enjoying all the stages of being a mother.
